Hi All! Sorry for no posts this weekend, we were having some technical difficulties. But, everything works now, so here we are.fivefigs_031309_0327

fivefigs_031309_0328Because we are so excited about Matta, we decided to do Designer Focus even though today is not Monday. Matta was founded, and is designed by, Cristina Gitti. She is a NY based designer whose inspirations come from her travels and the rich textiles she sees along the way. As described on her website, “The feeling of movement and sense of history translate in the vibrant color palette and through the varied textures”. We are having a blast with her stuff for spring! When we open the boxes, there is an explosion of color, and we can’t get enough of the fabrics she uses. Additionally, for Spring she has done these awesome necklace/bracelets. They have a cool bohemian vibe to them, and come in great colors. They are easy to wear and super fun.fivefigs_031309_0331

Hope everyone is having a great week! Because we are a little delayed in posting this week, Hump Day Helpful Hint will be tomorrow:)

Nami is a very exciting designer for Five Figs to have, and we have to tell you how awesome it is to have her pieces in the shop. Nami is a native New Yorker, who still lives and works in the City that never sleeps. After attending the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design, she worked in various designs houses before striking out on her own. On her website she says that she focuses her designs on “story, form and construction”. Five Figs is only one of two places in the world that have the honor of carrying Nami’s clothes.

For those of you who come in the shop often, you probably remember the great green gingham pieces from last fall/winter. Most recently we have these amazing graphic tees in a grey as well as in a dusty rose. We say they are amazing because they fit very nicely and the colors are just spot on. When a box arrives from Nami, opening the package is almost like a piece of art in itself. There is paper perfectly folded over, and each article of clothing is carefully vaccuum sealed to protect them during transport. Additionally, she wraps the packing order with a loose gold string, and attaches a handwritten note. It is such a pleasure to work with people who care so deeply about what they do from beginning to end, and Nami really embodies that idea. We love having her pieces, and we are always excited to see what she has coming up next!
